With fuel shortages once again in our horizons, South African business owners and citizens are wondering how this will affect them.
In this article, we cover the important information about the shortages and what you need to know, in order to best prepare.
South Africa facing Diesel Shortages
The South African Petroleum Industry Association (SAPIA) has confirmed that there is a diesel shortage in the country.
In a media statement released on 26 May, it said: “Since the easing of lockdown restrictions and the transition from Alert Level 5 to Alert Level 4, the opening of the economy has resulted in a more rapid recovery than expected. There has been a dramatic increase in the demand for diesel.”
The diesel shortage will affect you if you plan to use your diesel vehicles at the beginning of June.
According to SAPIA, stock rationing has been implemented to manage the demand and preserve stock. Unplanned shutdowns are a factor which led to the shortage that will probably last until the end of May.
