There has been a substantial hike in fuel prices in South Africa this month.
The Automobile Association (AA) said that unaudited month-end fuel price data released by the Central Energy Fund confirmed earlier suspicions that stronger international fuel prices and a weakening rand has resulted in an increase in fuel prices.
What fuel price increase will mean for fleet managers?
Petrol users have faced an increase of 61 cents per litre at the pump this month.
Diesel is also 46 cents more expensive. And the cost of illuminating paraffin has increased by 50 cents. And there’s no good news for now: "If oil continues to climb, South Africans should expect further pain at the pumps in the upcoming months," added the AA.
For now, it looks like the Rand will continue to weaken against the Dollar and, with a global increase in oil prices, this means local fuel prices will continue to climb in coming months.
