Celebrating the power of our women

We would like to celebrate a few inspirational South African women in honour of Women’s Day.

Avis Fleet wishes all our amazing South African women everything of the best for Women's Month.

Thuli Madonesela

Thuli Madonsela carved out a place in our hearts as a fearless Public Protector. But her good work didn’t just begin there.

She worked as a human rights lawyer and was involved in community and social justice issues since the 1980s.

This experience gave her a knowledge of policy that equipped her to become part of the team that drafted South Africa’s Constitution in 1996.

Caster Semenya

Olympic gold medallist and International Association of Athletics Federations World Championship winner, Caster Semenya has also been named as South African Sportswoman of the Year.

She has received the bronze Order of Ikhamanga and been shortlisted for the IAAF World Athlete of the Year award.

The Black Mambas

This anti-poaching unit is extremely deserving of a mention because of the amazing work it does.

At a time where the street value of rhino horn has skyrocketed and made these animals more vulnerable than ever, this all-female group patrols the Balule Private Game Reserve, a protected wildlife area of the greater Kruger National Park.
